Turning industrial CO₂ emissions into valuable chemicals for tomorrow

REACT is a Horizon Europe project developing an innovative tandem electrochemical process to directly convert industrial CO₂ streams into valuable olefines mixtures for sustainable polymers, chemicals, and fuels.

Transforming CO₂ into industrial opportunity

The REACT project develops an advanced electrochemical conversion technology unlocking the transformation of industrial CO₂ emissions into valuable chemical mixtures. Designed to flexibly operate electrolyzers with real CO₂ streams from hard-to-abate industries, REACT reduces the need for costly pre-treatment while improving efficiency, sustainability, materials durability, and economic feasibility. The project supports the transition toward circular carbon value chains by enabling the production of sustainable polymers and chemicals using renewable electricity.

Benefits of the project

Renewable electrochemical conversion of industrial CO₂ for sustainable chemicals production

Reduced dependence on fossil feedstocks for synthesis of polymers, chemicals, and fuels

Testing of innovative materials for electrolyzer components

Building resilient and circular industrial value chains

Strengthened European industrial autonomy

Digital twin optimisation for advanced monitoring and scalable deployment

Renewable Electrochemical Advanced Conversion of CO2 to Target products
