Work Package
Project Management
Coordinating human and financial resources to reach the project objectives. Implementing the right processes and responsibilities for the good execution of the project. Ensuring effective data management, administration, as well as efficient communication with EC, consortium and Industrial Advisory Board.
Industrial requirements and impurity specifications
Defining industrial process, product, and system requirements by assessing CO₂ stream characteristics, impurity-related risks, safety considerations, and establishing a shared technical framework for project development.
Tandem electrochemical CO2 conversion unit
Optimising and validating electrochemical technologies for the sequential conversion of industrial CO₂ into syngas and subsequently into ethylene. Improving catalyst performance, durability, and tolerance to industrial gas impurities while demonstrating stable and efficient operation of the tandem electrochemical conversion process under representative industrial conditions.
Integrated REACT Plant
Integrating the CO₂ capture, electrochemical conversion, and process control technologies developed throughout the project into a fully operational demonstration plant. Validating the complete conversion pathway from captured CO₂ to ethylene, demonstrating stable and efficient system operation, and producing sufficient ethylene to enable downstream conversion into value-added materials.
Downstream product conversion and end use product demonstration
Optimising ethylene purification and valorisation into high-value chemicals and polymers, reducing purification needs, and demonstrating downstream products through performance validation, characterisation, and industrial application testing.
Process design, modelling, control and replication
Developing process models, techno-economic assessments and digital optimisation strategies to validate scalability and industrial viability of the REACT technologies. Evaluating the replication potential of the technologies across different industrial CO₂ sources and hard-to-abate sectors through integrated technical and economic analysis.
Sustainability, Circularity, and Life-Cycle Assessment
Applying Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) principles to assess environmental and socio-economic impacts. Evaluating process and product safety, as well as end-of-life strategies, to ensure sustainable design and deployment of REACT solutions.
Dissemination, communication, exploitation and data management:
Enhancing REACT impact through communication, dissemination, stakeholder engagement, knowledge transfer, and data management while promoting adoption, standardisation, and collaboration across industrial, research, and policy communities.
